Homemade indies head for screen

The Bernie Mac baseball movie "Mr. 3000," shot at Miller Park, and the just-released period drama "Red Betsy," filmed in Delafield, are two high-profile films recently made in the Milwaukee area. But many other films have been and are being made by local filmmakers using local talent. Here are a few that may have escaped your notice.

"Wishtaker" Short film about people who make wishes as they toss coins in an old fountain in the middle of a park. By Milwaukee-area filmmakers Joe Spang and Carlo Besasie, from a screenplay by Ryan Plato. Produced by Frank Datzer and Becky Banks. With Mark Metcalf, Jeremy Beiler, Carrie Hitchcock.
